Bios are hard to do and embarassing so let's keep it short.....  originally from Grinnell, Iowa (USA), I've lived more than half my life in Spain. That doesn't include Life Under Franco (Spain's dictator for almost 40 years) but does include almost all the fascinating transition from dictatorship to democracy (ummm. there's a hint about my age)

My favorite things? All kinds of walking, from easy to challenging. Cycling, especially cycle touring. Kayaking and cross country skiing, when the right kind of water or right kind of snow is available. Spanish history, especially medieval and Civil War. Exploring, learning and sharing my discoveries. Reading, everything from light fiction to fairly deep non fiction. Writing. Knitting and sewing, though not much time for either.
