Some useful links for information on Spain. 

SP means only in Spanish. EN means at least partly in English

www.elpais.es SP. One of the best Spanish daily newspapers, unusually considered among the most unbiased.
www.abc.es SP. Another Spanish newspaper, somewhat to the right of El País
www.natuweb.com SP. Joint website for Spanish eco-nature magazines and other eco contents.
www.in-madrid.com EN. Montly newspaper about Madrid for English speakers.
www.atSpain.com EN. All sorts of products from Spain: food, handcrafts, traditional products from various regions. Online purchase, or call ahead to visit Madrid shop.
www.incmadrid.com EN. International Newcomers Club (INC), though definitely not just for newcomers! English-speaking women's club with people from all over the world (and a few men, too). This is a great way to get information about living in Spain if you are new, but also a good way to make friends. Social activities for couples and families, women of all ages. No clubhouse, but a monthly general meeting (wine or olive-oil tasting, talks on different subjects, etc).
www.awcmadrid.com EN. American Women's Club (AWC). Similiar to INC, though as name indicates somewhat less international in focus, and a little more for long-term residents. AWC has a clubhouse in the north part of the city and organizes fundraisers, for different projects.
www.tiendaverde.org SP, part EN. Good bookstore in Madrid for maps, travel, walking and rockclimbing books.  Has online sales
www.llibreriaquera.com Catalan. Good bookstore in Barcelona for maps, travel, walking and rockclimbing books.  On a wonderful pedestrian street with old cafés, very near the Ramblas.
www.barrabes.es EN. Great sports store in the Pyrenees. If you need special gear while here, this is definitely a place to keep in mind. Now in Madrid, too, great selection of clothes and boots. Ask us about other places in Madrid if you forgot to bring something.
www.renfe.es EN. Spanish railroads. Gets you nearly everywhere you need to go, overnight trains a great option for longer trips (get a bunk!!). Only moderately bike- friendly but very useful once you learn basic rules (most rules on website).
www.iberia.com EN. Spanish national airline, flys direct to several destinations on east coast and (usually) to Chicago.  Often has good on-line deals.
www.ine.es EN. Spanish Statistics Institute. Just about anything countable is on this website
www.inm.es SP. Weather bureau.  The rain in Spain doesn't fall mainly on the plain. Find out where it falls!
www.multimadrid.com EN. And if you got hooked on Madrid, make a "virtual visit" back to your old haunts.
www.viasverdes.com SP, EN now only about their twice-yearly tour. Old railbeds being converted to walking-biking paths.
www.aulacero.com EN.   Language school. Learn Spanish (or French) while in Madrid.
www.eureka-madrid.com EN. Language school.
www.casaxelaju.com EN. Language school in Guatemala (in case you've decided this isn't the year for Spain..)
