Hot news about cool stuff going on in Madrid (and other places nearby).
Magnum in Madrid! No, not the ice cream bar. Exhibit on the legendary photo agency, showing the very first exhibit the agency did (1955), photos from founding members. I’ve been to several photo exhibits sponsered by the Canal and they are usually excellent. Where and when: Canal de Isabel II exhibit venue, Mateo Inurria 2, metro Plaza de Castilla. Until January 19, 11am to 8pm except Wednesdays when they close at 3pm Get more info at http://www.fundacioncanal.com/8936/magnums-first/

Until December 3, Tues – Sat 10am – 2pm & 5.30 – 9pm, Suns and holidays 10.30am – 2pm. Get more info at http://condeduquemadrid.es/evento/historia-la-aviacion-civil-espana/ NOTE: interesting venue!
Old Maps Spain’s National Library has an excellent collection of old maps – considering that the sun never set on the Spanish Empire before Britain made that claim, the collection is very good indeed, far reaching in both time and well, geography. Until January 28, Tues – Sat 10am – 8pm, Suns and holidays 10am – 2pm Get more info at http://www.bne.es/es/Actividades/Exposiciones/
